Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is from Sri Lanka. She has two younger brothers and a older sister. The reason for this was the civil war in Sri Lanka that the family decided to move to Bahrain. The schooling she completed was in Bahrain and she won the Scholarship to the University of Sydney. There she graduated with an Media and Communications degree. With a love of the world of languages and cultures, she was a part of the Berlitz school of languages, where she learned to speak Spanish and improved her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 was title in the month of March, 2006; she also took part in Miss Universe 2006 She entered television after winning an award for the Miss Sri Lanka title. The show she hosts, Lanka Business Report, is about Sri Lankan business. Padukone (the mother of the badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager Padukone was a participant in numerous national badminton tournaments. However, she resigned from the sport when she decided to pursue a career as a professional model. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her mother tongue is Konkani. Her lineage is from Padukone village, which is located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the state of Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone has retired as an internationally renowned badminton athlete and her mother also works as a travel advisor.
